Organization An Overview

  • YOGDAAN
    • India has the second-highest estimated population of undernourished people in the world
    • Around 26 percent of population in Indian villages were BPL in 2011-12 (with monthly income below Rs 816)
    • 22 percent urban population was BPL in 2011-12 (with monthly income below Rs 1,000)

Statistics don't reveal a clear picture about the prevalence of poverty in India. Millions of people in India die of hunger, malnutrition and the lack of basic necessities including shelter, clothes and healthcare. While a number of organizations and people are meticulously involved in the mission of bringing smiles to the faces of such people, there is a strong need of bodies that can convert compassionate hearts into donors to help as many people as possible.

There is no dearth of people willing to 'give it back to the society'. However, due to the shortcomings of the system and lack of transparency in the process of giving, many potential donors are hesitant to come forward to help.

Sewa Bharti, one of the largest NGOs working for the upliftment and empowerment of the less-privileged since 1979, and Robin Raina Foundation, a charitable organization set up in 2003 to help bring hope to the underprivileged children across the world, have joined forces for a social welfare initiative named Yogdaan.

Yogdaan is a one-of-its-kind initiative that combines human resources and technology for a donation model to allow donors to track the course of their donations. To express it in other words: Yogdaan works on the principle of 'By-the-Donor, For-the-Needy' with the support of its multiple volunteers we are merely the facilitators.

    About Sewa Bharti
The NGO was formally inaugurated by the former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Balasaheb Deoras on Vijayadashami Day in 1979. The work informally began in a small room near Valmiki Basti of the Sangam Park area. In the beginning, child care and development centres were started. Within a year, 64 centres came up in various parts of the city. Currently, it has schools, a project for the upliftment of street children, diagnostic centres, and computer training centres, amongst other services. It also conducts adult literacy drives.

    About Robin Raina Foundation
Robin Raina Foundation was set up in 2003 to bring joy and hope to the underprivileged across the country by transforming the lives of homeless children through education, medical care, shelter and food. Today, the Foundation has adopted in excess of 3,500 children and meets all of their needs. In the process, the Foundation runs multiple schools across India, an orphan home in Mumbai, medical ambulances in Delhi and a hospital ward in Pakistan.
